Padang Relief

IRF (Indonesian Relief Fund) received donation and through Pondok Kasih sent 50 tons of aid to Padang.
Below, you will see a few pictures as well as updates on what is happening in Padang.

Update - October 15, 2009

Lokasi bukit ini berada di daerah Teluk Bayurseperti yang telah saya sampaikan sebelumnya bahwa tempat ini 95% penduduknya merupakan orang kristen yang diabaikan pada saat gempa terjadi mereka tidak ada pertolongan dari manapun dan pada saat kami masuk hanya sekali mereka dikunjungi atau disurvey oleh NGO yang tidak lakukan apa2. Mereka merupakan penduduk yang dikonsentrasikan oleh pemerintah daerah dan dijadikan daerah pemukiman kristen. Sangat minim sekali keadaan mereka. Saat ini kami telah mengirimkan pakaian dan makanan dengan bekerjasama dengan OBI serta GPDi Karmel.

Besok kami akan kirimkan terpal untuk shelter tinggal mereka sementara, tetapi secara umum masyrakat tetap tegar dan berusaha menjalankan aktifitasnya dengan baik.

Today we received the donation from Surabaya. The pictures below are from Yayasan Indonesia Sejahtera on Yayasan Pondok Kasih. In picture you can see the wheelchairs are being assembled.

Update - October 12, 2009

These are some of the medical supplies that were distributed in Padang Earthquake.
- TNI Dr. Reksodiwiryo Hospital, in Padang : 51 koli
- Yos Sudarso Hospital, in Padang: 76 koli

Update - October 6, 2009

  1. The first team under the leadership of Pastor Wawan and Pastor Maruli had left on Sunday afternoon and they have reported that the area around Pariaman was difficult to get to because the villages are isolated and were totally buried by the land slides and the roads were cut off. Please pray that the team can bring the aid immediately to these isolated locations. They joined with the team from Obor Berkat that had arrived earlier.


  2. The second team left on Monday at 4pm under the leadership of Kasron using the Indonesian sailing agency (Pelni) bringing with them 1 truck load of aid for the victims in Padang. It is estimated that they will arrive on Tuesday in Padang at 5pm. The picture below shows the distribution of medical supplies in Padang Earthquake.
  3. The second team left on Tuesday at 3 pm, the third team (teams of doctors) will leave and join the team from OBI. FYI, we still need volunteer teams of doctors and nurses. If there are doctors and nurses in your church that are willing to volunteer and willing to goto Padang, please get in touch with us so that we can arrange for the transportation and allocation.
  4. From Medan City Blessing Church (Pastor Juster Sinambela), the fourth team will leave this afternoon by ground.
  5. From Lampung City Blessing Church (Pastor Edmon Zareda), the fifth team will leave tonight by ground.
  6. From Palembang City Blessing Church (Pastor Jefrey Hutabarat), the sixth team will leave this afternoon by ground.
  7. From Aceh City Blessing Church (Mr. Edi Ginting), the seventh team will leave on October 8.
  8. We are coordinating with the congregations of City Blessing Churches in the island of Sumatra that are closest to Padang so that aid can be purchased from the local areas and be brought to the destinations. Indeed there are several major arteries that were cut off because of the landslides and are unreachable/isolated. Please pray for a faster distribution.
  9. As I have written before, if there are volunteer from your church, please have your pastor get in touch with us to verify the info and you have been given the permission to be a member of our team so that we can make you a volunteer ID Badge from our organization (Yayasan Indonesia Sejahtera). Thank you for your cooperation.
  10. Please pray so that we can rent a place/location for our post YIS/CBC in Padang that we are looking for to house our team members and mobilize the ministry effectively.
  11. We all know that Romans 8:28 is happening in Padang.... "everything will bring good to those that love Him." The Lord Jesus allowed all of these to happen for a purpose so that the Lord's Church will be awaken from His slumber and partake in the harvest field that has ripen. Keep believing God for an opening door to preach the gospel, save the lost, have care cell and of course PLANT THE CHURCH. That is the end product of HIS KingdomWith God nothing is IMPOSSIBLE.
